Terms of Service

By accessing or using Former ("the Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service. Former reserves the right to update and change these Terms at any time without notice.

2. Description of Service

Former is a professional networking platform that connects you with former colleagues from companies where you have previously worked. The Service includes features such as messaging, social feeds, company channels, and professional profile management.

3. User Accounts

Account Creation

  • You must be at least 16 years old to use this Service
  • You must provide accurate and complete registration information
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
  • You are responsible for all activities that occur under your account
  • You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

Account Verification

To maintain the integrity of our professional network, we may require verification of your employment history. Providing false information about your professional background is grounds for immediate account termination.

4. Acceptable Use Policy

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Violate any laws or regulations
  • Infringe upon the rights of others
  • Harass, abuse, or harm other users
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent content
  • Impersonate any person or entity
  • Share spam, malware, or malicious content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or other accounts
  • Use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers
  • Collect or harvest user data without permission

5. Content and Intellectual Property

Your Content

You retain ownership of content you post on Former. By posting content, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, copy, reproduce, process, adapt, publish, transmit, and display your content in connection with operating and providing the Service.

Our Content

The Service and its original content (excluding user-provided content), features, and functionality are owned by Former and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.

6. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. By using the Service, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Professional Conduct

Former is a professional networking platform. Users are expected to maintain professional standards in all interactions. This includes:

  • Respecting confidentiality agreements from former employers
  • Not sharing proprietary or confidential information
  • Maintaining respectful and professional communication
  • Using the platform for legitimate professional networking purposes

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason, including but not limited to:

  • Breach of these Terms
  • Violation of applicable laws
  • Harmful or fraudulent activities
  • At our sole discretion

Upon termination, your right to use the Service will cease immediately. You may delete your account at any time through the account settings.

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Former shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Former and its affiliates, officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees, arising out of or in any way connected with your access to or use of the Service or your violation of these Terms.

11. Dispute Resolution

Arbitration

Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration rather than in court, except that you may assert claims in small claims court if eligible.

Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Former operates, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify or replace these Terms at any time. If a revision is material, we will provide at least 30 days' notice prior to any new terms taking effect. Continued use of the Service after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

13. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is held to be unenforceable or invalid, such provision will be changed and interpreted to accomplish the objectives of such provision to the greatest extent possible under applicable law, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
